The weather is finally starting to warm up. Which means it’s a lot easier to walk or bike to the store or library when it’s not freezing outside.
I know that in a lot of communities, it’s not easy to bike or walk regularly. The towns are very spread out, or there aren’t any biking/walking lanes. But if you do have access to these, why not try walking or biking somewhere instead of driving?

We are very fortunate to live in an area that has lots of sidewalks and bike paths and that’s very convenient to stores and the library. Last summer, my son and I walked (ok, he strolled, I pushed) to the library, playgrounds, and the grocery store daily. None of these walks were more than a mile, one way.
My husband biked the 3 miles to work instead of driving.
Not only was this better on the environment, it was also better for our health. And, if you are slathered in sunscreen, I think it’s good to spend time outdoors.
Yes, it takes longer to get where you are going, but the time is spent outside, enjoying nature, and exercising.
We got into a nice rhythm last summer that we’ve all really missed this winter (I’m a southerner and consider any temperature below 50 to be freezing.)
I’ve been anxiously awaiting warmer weather so my son and I could have our daily walks. So I don’t have to load us into the car and drive to the mall just to get us out of the house. And my husband has missed his daily bike trips.
What about you?

I’ve been doubling my stair trips at work just to get some exercise in – and really it’s better aerobics, but yeesh! I am so looking forward to a nice lunchtime walk in crisp late winter air!
Walking up stairs does sound like great exercise! We have some hills in our neighborhood that I’ve been looking forward to!
